As an audience, we see the horror host as an immortal character, a dark entertainer, a carnival huckster... but what we fail to see is the man behind the make-up. Tonight I present The Mod Ghoul, host of Weird Web Theatre and tonight I honor the man, Gregg Phillip Childress. The horror host community was dealt a staggering blow last week when one of its own, Gregg Phillip Childress AKA The Mod Ghoul unexpectedly passed away. Gregg was an extremely funny man with a passion for horror and a talent for hosting. His character, The Mod Ghoul, Gregg likened to "a kind of Quadrophenia meets Dracula". He clearly had a great love of family, occasionally bringing his children on the show to help him host. The Mod Ghoul gave us the greatest gift that a horror host can give his audience... he gave himself. I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Gregg's family and friends.
