DIMENSION X

NORMAN ROSE

"Dimension X" was a hosted science fiction radio anthology series by NBC. The show ran from 8 April 1950 until 29 september 1951, with Norman Rose as the announcer and narrator.

The first 13 episodes were live, with the remainder prerecorded. The first 15 episodes were later reworked as new stories in "X Minus One"

The opening for the show was:
"Adventures in time and space... told in future tense".

From Science Fiction Television by M. Keith Booker:
"It was not until the 1950s that science fiction radio really hit its stride, even as science fiction was beginning to appear on television as well. Radio programs such as Mutual's "2000 Plus" and NBC's "Dimension X" were anthology series that offered a variety of exciting tales of future technology, with a special focus on space exploration (including alien invasion), though both series also often reflected contemporary anxieties about the dangers of technology".

NORMAN ROSE

Norman Rose was born on 23 June 1917 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA and passed away on 12 November 2004 in Upper Nyack, New York, USA.

Rose was an actor, film narrator and radio announcer, whose velvety baritone voice was often called "The Voice of Good" by his colleagues. I has been suggested that Rose was also the announcer for the 1950s science fiction radio anthology series "Beyond Tomorrow".
